Alright, How about the Outer Banks of North Carolina?
It's an area that few of us, as far as I know, have never been to and is rich in history and right on the Ocean.

San Juan Islands, Washington
Isle Royale
Chris is forcing me to post this: Chris wants to go to an island in a lake that has lakes in the island, so there's this.
And the view from outer space.

Minnesota -- Boundary waters?
What do people think about Minnesota, but a bit further north?
Some resorts listed here.
This one, Ludlow's Island Resort on Lake vermillion, is on an island. (Go look at the website. It's beautiful.)
This, Pine Point Lodge on Crane lake, is on a peninsula and may be cheaper -- lots of nice waterfront cabins.
Here's a place with cabins near Ely, on farm lake -- rates seem reasonable. Possibility for trips into the Boundary waters --
although, also the possibilty for hanging around at the lake. Rates seem quite reasonable.

Guidelines
Hi everyone! It's so hot here it's hard to think....but here are my initial thoughts.
#1 Great idea to plan ahead and work towards a full reunion!
#2
Those who have to travel farthest (ie. East Coast contingent if Idaho
or Wisconsin have greater travel costs to consider and airfares tend to
be steeper when flying into cities that are not hubs (such as Fargo vs.
Minneapolis)
#3 Dates are critical with some jobs/summer course schedules so likely mid August is best.
#4 Door County is where Clay Zambo (our music director at church) who is a VERY talented writer has been and he said it's amazing. His show Windjammers is premiering at the American Festival Theatre in Door County.
#5 Hard costs will be a factor for planning.
I
realize it's difficult to come up with a consensus with all of us
scattered around the continent. ANYWHERE we can ALL be together is great
if we can afford to do it....time and travel.

YMCA of the Rockies
Another that Chris found --
YMCA of the Rockies
Estes Park center.
Snow Mountain center.
I think there are YMCA camps available all over the country. I remember one of my colleagues staying in one on the mountains in Arkansas, too.
Check out Chris's other recommendations here.

Adirondacks
This is one that Chris found --
Timberlock
Rates not unreasonable, especially considering they feed you!

The Blog
I thought this might be a good way to disseminate ideas people have for a location for the next family reunion, which is scheduled to happen sometime in the summer of 2014.
I've put up a few ideas. Please add any you have, too -- I think if absolutely all of us come we're close to 40 people.
In order to post ideas, you'll need to be a contributor. I've invited siblings to be contributors. If you respond to my invitation, you can then contribute. If there's anyone I have not invited who also wants to be a contributor, I'll be happy to invite them -- just send me an email with their email address.
You don't have to be a contributor to read the blog or to make comments.
Okay -- I think that's it.
Start thinking!

Door County, WI?
Gibson's West Harbor Resort
On an island! (Expand the map to see where it is!)
Originally built in the 1870s as a logging camp, this historic property has been operating as a resort for 108 years. The Gibson family bought it in 1947 and Herb and Mari Gibson have been proprietors since 1970. Come stay in the main lodge or rent one of the 6 cottages. Set on 1000 feet of gorgeous West Harbor and Green Bay shorefront; guests can play horseshoes, volleyball, canoe or use the private beach. Breathtaking sunsets are a specialty. Children & pets welcome. Lodge open year round.
Here is their website -- this looks very good to me. Looks about the right size and in a very beautiful place with lots to do --
Here's a listing of what to do on Washington Island.
Lots more about other places in Door County here.

Coeur D'Alene
I can't seem to find anything right in Coeur d'Alene. I'll expand the search to Spokane and the area around it.
Might be worth poking around in here.

manitoba?
Tall Pines Lodge
West Hawk Lake, mere steps away, is Manitoba’s deepest lake at 111 metres. Formed by a meteor, the depth and clarity of the water virtually preclude any problems such as “swimmer’s itch”, sometimes found elsewhere. The extensive sandy beach at West Hawk – considered to be the best beach in the Whiteshell – is superb for swimming and/or relaxing. Complimentary canoes are available at the resort for guests who wish to leisurely explore the lake’s scenic beauty. A convenient marina at the end of the beach has other watercraft available for rent, including motorized versions.
